The Roomba j9+ shines brightest in homes with pets. iRobot's P.O.O.P. (Pet Owner Official Promise) technology uses front-facing cameras and AI to identify and avoid pet waste—a feature they're so confident in, they'll replace your robot if it fails to avoid an accident.

Cleaning performance on carpets is excellent. The dual rubber brush extractors work together to agitate carpet fibers and pull up embedded dirt, pet hair, and allergens. On hard floors, performance is good though not quite as strong as dedicated hard-floor robots.

The iRobot OS operating system learns your habits over time. It suggests cleaning schedules based on your routine, increases cleaning frequency during allergy season or pet shedding periods, and learns which rooms need more attention.

The self-emptying Clean Base is genuinely hands-off. It holds about 60 days of debris (depending on your home), and the enclosed bags make disposal clean and allergy-friendly. You'll almost forget the robot exists—it just quietly keeps your floors clean.

Navigation is methodical and thorough. The j9+ creates detailed maps of your home and cleans in efficient patterns rather than random bouncing. You can set room-specific cleaning preferences and create keep-out zones through the app.
